I think "Beauty is whatever gives joy" means that whatever you like makes you happy. For example, I like baseball. When I go to baseball games I get so hyped up to see all of my favorite players in person. Also what gives me joy is looking at all of the history that has been at the stadium. For example, in Baltimore all homeruns are marked where the ball landed. Going to a baseball game brings me the most joy.

They shouldn't change the way that there personality is because someone told them to. Something that gives me joy is playing baseball with my teammates. And also especially winning. It gives me joy because when I play with my teammates they are the only people I can depend on when I step on the field. And I have also been playing it for 9 years and I enjoy it a lot.
I think "beauty is whatever gives joy" means that if you like doing something you enjoy it and that makes you feel happy. This also means not to change for anyone and be yourself.
