Period 4/4 Blog #2 September 26

In honor of Derek Jeter’s retirement, I would like you to reflect on the following quote and respond in no less than 200 words.

Jeter says a key to success is “that you’re not afraid to fail.  I’m not afraid to fail.  I’ve done it quite a bit.”

Do you feel this is a valuable statement and can be applied to anyone, not just a professional athlete?  Explain how this can be applied to your everyday life by using specific examples.

  1. this is a valuable statement because everyone is not perfect. Another reason why I think that this is a valuable statement because you will never get good at something if you do not try and fail because when you do fail and you don't give up you will try it again and then try to not make the same mistake like you did the first time. In fact sometimes when you try something and you fail it should make you want to try again so that you can get it right. To me its like an urge to want to keep trying and trying. One example that happen to me is that I played football when I was younger I could never catch a ball when they through it to me I will drop it and for that reason I would never start but even though I failed I never gave up and I kept practicing at home and at practice and one day they put me and I caught the ball for a touchdown to win the game and if I were to quit and give up I would have scored that touchdown.

  2. Jeter says a key to success is “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.” With out a doubt I think this is a valuable statement. But what the quite means in my eyes it means that you should never give up at anything you try. If you don't try something you will never know even if you are good at it. For example, my parents told me I should try wresting 2 years ago and I was going back and forth. But then I decided to do it. I did it and I got my first win. My first season I went 1-9. My next season I went 8-2. I made a big improvement because I put the work in and I didn't give up. Another example is for baseball. I didn't try out for the central baseball team in 7th grade because I was afraid of not making it. But in my 8th grade year I tried out and I made the team and I ended up starting my first game in right field.I never got to hit that game but what I'm trying to say is always try to do something if you don't know how it's going to end out it may be good or bad you never know until you try.

  3. Jeter says a key to success is “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.” I think this is a really good statement. This quote means that you are never going to accomplish things on the first try. Life is full of mistakes. If you dont accomplish something in life always keep trying and never give up. If you give up you will never get better and improve in that activity. For example, if you are playing baseball and you strikeout your first game. Its ok because it is your first game and you have the rest of the year to improve. I remember my first year of baseball. I was pitcher for the team and I was nervous because everybody was counting on you and people were constantly staring at you the whole time your on the mound. I walked my first batter, but i shook it off and got the other guy out. The point is you should never give up on what you are doing. If you give up that means you will probably never get as good as you want to be in that activity.

  4. the quote “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.” means that you will never get things right the first time it will take multiple tries before you succeed. For example I failed plenty of times at many things like sports ,school etc. A few years ago I was on a football team and I was not a starter but over the year I improved on everything I needed to do and the next year I was a starter for my team. After that I knew I had to work hard on everything and people will start to recognize you and your actions. It also helped me in school. For example I had a 70 in a class and I stayed after everyday and asked tons of questions but it didn't work so I kept studying everything I got every school day and before you know it I hand an 88.

  5. This quote mean a lot to anybody not just athletes. What this mean to me is that you should not be scared to fail. Meter said I've done it plenty of time he means that he didn't always do really good the thing jeter failed at was coming first on the all time hit list. But he didn't stop trying he kept trying though. Everybody fails at something in life because no one is perfect. For example I couldn't block in football that well when I first started. But I kept practicing and practicing to be better. Jeter wasn't always the best he failed at some things but he kept practicing so he wouldn't fail again. That's what this quote means to me. 6. Derek Jeter once said, and i quote.A key to success is “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.” Now to that i think that's is 100% right. And It relates to me because I attempt thiings and i mess up alot in my life in everything i do. You have to do the mistake before you learn the way.You wont do everything perfect the first time you will always mess up. Jeter was on the dime with that. Everyone messes up and fixes themselves to become perfect. For an example in football i learn new plays almost everyday, ii practice and messing up doesn't bother me. I always just learn from my mistakes then i do it and do it and boom i eventually get it perfect. Or for another example, in school learning new lessons. I dont know the lesson it is confusing but with failing and practicing i eventually get it right. So Derek Jeter's quote was on point it was tottally right and i dont know how else to put it.

  7. This quote means to never give up and always hold your head up high. Which means if you are chasing a dream to be anything you want and you end up not able to do it, train harder and try it again. Derek Jeter pushed himself and tried really hard to be the best there is, and now look at him he's a professional baseball player. He failed a lot of times but that made him try even harder which made him succeed. I want to become a boilermaker so I would have to try to gain strength, leadership, and skill to use the machines and I will try really hard to achieve this and to never give up. Everyone of Jeter's fans and friends helped him succeed and he loved when people did that because they knew they cared about him and his career. That's what this quote means to me and no one ever give up and always try harder to achieve your dreams.

  8. Derek Jeter once said, “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.” This quote can apply to every single person in the world. This quote means that no matter how hard something is, just keep trying to make it easier. For example, I used to always be a bench player in football. I was always upset about that but then I started to work a lot harder. I eventually became a starter and look at where I am now. I am the starting center and a starting defensive player. Working hard on things that you want to achieve will eventually pay out if you are in for it. Another example for me is baseball. I was always told that I suck at baseball and that I should just quit. I ended up being an amazing hitter and an amazing pitcher. All of my hard work pays off and I am proud of what I have done when it comes to sports. This quote doesn't just apply to me but I applies to everyone. Everyone can relate to this quote because at some point, people have worked really hard to achieve something and normally it pays out.
