The theme of "A Sound of Thunder" is the possible dangers of technology. We see this in the explanation Travis gives of the possible outcome of killing just one mouse in the past. DeleteI do believe technology can be a danger to people. I think it can be a danger because a lot of people can sadly be bullied online and it can really hurt and affect them. Not even just kids at school,but also celebrities probably get hurt a lot from everything all the people who don't like them say to them. It can make people harm themselves and it can turn out very badly.Kids can be made fun of at school and can not even escape it when they get home because all these sights give them a chance for all the mean stuff to continue at home.

DeleteYes I do believe that technology can be dangerous especially in society. We as humans use many different types of social media to communicate with our friends and family.Sadly though many people bully and harass others since they find it funny or just do it because they enjoy it.The result of this is depression or even go as far as self harming because of the comments.
ReplyDeleteThe theme of "A Sound of Thunder" is all about the dangers of technology. In today's world we are surrounded by everything technology. We all can't survive without our phones attached to our hips. The mental dangers of technology are that we don't know what’s going on around us. Were constantly communicating through technology. We have lost ability to socialize in person. We need to start opening our eyes and realizing the beauty of the world, before it’s gone. There are also physical dangers of technology. So many people can find you just because your locations are turned on, on your IPhone. Also, so many people bully over the internet, and so many lives are lost over it. People think that because they are behind a screen and not in person, they can say whatever they want. People don’t realize the affects of technology. We aren’t a smart generation anymore, anything we want to know, we just look up. The dangers of technology are a serious thing, and we need to start fixing our ways before it’s too late.
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel that there can be dangers in technology. Technology has taken over this generation and not in a good way, yes I know we are now more advanced than we were back then and it does help us greatly but, it has its down falls. Its a little world where bullies come to .The sites such as facebook,Instagram, and twitter have no filter with language. People post things on social media thinking that it can deleted and gone forever. That's not the case, it will never be deleted there is a file out that that holds everything deleted and it could possible harm you in the future in anyone gets a hold of it. If you look on the news these days celebrities are going through so much trouble just because someone got a hold of that file filled with those pictures or videos that were very private to them. The internet also carries many cyber bullies. They threaten others and you cant do anything about it because its not like the internet will delete that bullies profile. They're are thousands and thousands of strangers that try to add you and look through you things but you never really think about adding them back or not. You can add a complete stranger that you don't know and they'll turn out to be some criminal who's on a wanted list. He might want to track you down ? ever thought about that. The internets a danger place, technology is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI think that Social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter do suppose danger. Technology can cause all sorts of problems. Social media can cause cyber bullying and trouble in general. Whenever you send a text or a message on any of those sites / apps people can track everything you say since the beginning of time.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think that social media is dangerous. It distracts children from school work and causes trouble in school or anywhere for that matter. I've heard that Facebook is able to control your camera and know your location which I personally that's crazy that Facebook has that power. As I said Cyber Bullying is a terrible thing and usually children feel more powerful behind a screen than face to face. This causes drama and the school becomes involved. It's a huge mess, and all this can also happen simply over text messages. I think that every thing such as text, and social medias are dangerous but they're also a good thing. They help you contact friends, family, or buisness. I personally thinks it's a good thing as well as a bad one.
I don't think that there can be dangers in technology besides cyber bullying. as of now we don't have anything like going back in time or something similar to that so nothing that terrible can happen. things like twitter don't really pose a danger to people at all because its not like the app can come out of the phone and physically hurt you. they may post a threat in my opinion, but not much of a danger as being on a plane or crossing the street. another app that I wouldn't be able to see dangerous is instagram. other people around the world can only comment and post pictures on the app, so how could that possibly dangerous. again, it could most definitely be a threatening app, but not a necessarily dangerous app. the last app i would like to talk about is facebook. facebook is exactly the same as twitter so everything i said about twitter would apply to this app too.
ReplyDeleteI believe that there are some dangers in social media. Bad things happen everyday throughout social media. I see with my own eyes, all the time. I think that if we didn't have all the technology we have, there would not be as many suicides as there are. People harm themselves over social media constantly, and that's a big deal. Technology is already dangerous to the people of the world and it could only get worse.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do feel that technology is dangerous sometimes. People post things on Facebook that they don't mean then they try to take it back, but once you hit send you can't, then that post is everywhere and if it is centered on one person that person can get upset and decide to commit suicide. People don't realize that their actions on the internet can hurt so many people. It is the same thing with instagram. The people post inappropriate pictures all the time and then people post hateful comments that the person doesn't like so they decide to commit suicide. Everything you post on the Internet is there for the whole world to see. Don't post anything you wouldn't like and I bet you the suicide rate would go down. In conclusion I feel that the internet can be dangerous in so many ways and kids should think twice before hitting send.

ReplyDeleteI do believe there is danger in technology, with the biggest one being cyber bullying. I think cyber bullying is the biggest danger in technology because is causes people to hurt themselves and to become really sad. Instagram, facebook , and twitter poses a huge danger. These websites are where everything happens. People post stuff and people to make fun of them. I see it everyday someone writes something mean and thinks it funny,but it hurts the person they say it too. I think that it's really bad to bully people, and to do it on the computer makes it even worse. I think that since we have everything at the touch of a finger everyone thinks they can bully, but you cant it's the wrong thing to do. Society definitely changed since social media popped up and I don't think it will ever be the same.

DeleteI do feel there can be dangers in technology. There could be bullies that cyber bully. People that are bullied are made to feel bad about themselves and it can affect their lives forever. Anything that goes online is there forever. What goes online does not get deleted. It can keep you from getting into the college you want to go to. What happens in school and college can also affect what kind of job you will get in the future. Employers search the internet before hiring people and if there is anything negative found they won't hire you. All these things can affect your future life. Also the internet is not fully secure. Recently passwords were leaked by Google because Russians hacked into Google and released 5 million passwords and usernames to the public.

DeleteOur generation is thriving with new technology that’s helping to make the world a better place, but it’s also ruining it.Technology can be dangerous in more ways than we know. People could hack you and take all of your information or people could be cyber bullied.Most people are cyber bullied because the bully doesn't want to confess it to the victims face.But by putting their comments on the internet it’s allowing the whole world to see what you wrote about the person whether it’s true or not. Then the rumors and comments will start to follow the victim and the bully around in life. Sometimes the problem can be worked out with the help of a parent or teacher,but sometimes it’s too late. Technology can be good and dangerous in many ways, it all depends on the way that people decide to use it.
ReplyDeleteThere can be many dangers with technology, especially with all the sights we have. Any stalker could immediately know when you're home alone and come and try to steal you. Speaking of stealing, any criminal could know when you leave your house unattended and when you would come back. Besides those obvious reasons people can also take your personal pictures and use them against you. So many people get bullied every year because of the technology we use. The biggest danger technology poses though, is the fact that every stupid thing people say never go away. So many people have posted stupid things on twitter and instagram and they never go away, they get stuck on the internet forever. So, yes, technology can be very dangerous.

On the internet there is bullying going on 24/7, and this is very dangerous to people. Also, when you post a mean comment on a picture, or a tweet it never goes away. You can delete it, but when people read those words you wrote it never gets out of their minds. Technology these days are thriving and with the world knowing what they can do with it is scary. People know they can bully each other through a screen and basically get away with. The social media we have now is all about how popular you are by the amount of followers you have or the amount of likes you get on a post. The world has come to where technology pretty much runs our lives. For instances, to run for presidency they mostly campaign through social media, and their talks. Although, most of it is done on the internet so a lot of people see it. This is why technology and social media dangers people.
ReplyDeleteIf you consider social media as a danger then yes there is a danger in technology. Social media can bring people down and be a danger to their self-self-eisteem and even their lives. From cyber bullying many people commit suicide or are afraid to come to school and learn. Many people don't realize that social media can be a big danger to teens and even ruin their lives. When you post anything on social media like Instagram or Facebook it's always going to be there even if you delete it. So later on in life if you are applying to a job, they can trace you old accounts and see a stupid picture you posted and not hire you. Technology also ruins your privacy and everything is out on the open and everyone knows everything about you and what you post. You can never take it back and it can always come back and hurt you in the future. Also on the internet there a lot of inappropriate sites like pornography which can danger little kids and teens. Also the internet has a lot of illegal sites that can even get you in trouble with the law. It even showed you how technology was dangerous in the story and how it almost got everyone killed. If you want to ruin your life go ahead be obsessed with technology.
ReplyDeleteThe ideas behind “A Sound of Thunder” are shown as a exciting story of time travel and adventure, but when you take a good look at it, it has quite a dark toll. For instance, you probably never thought about the mass murdering of millions or perhaps secretly planned space weapons when reading this story right? Even much smaller scaled ideas of cyber-bulling and the ideas that people express their secrets to the wrong people aren’t even thought about in this story. Well it’s time to take a different look. As the character Travis very clearly states, one small change in the past will affect the outcomes of one’s future. On first glance, I have to admit, it does seem self-explanatory; time travel plus killing past creatures equal a future offset of mass proportions. But when you think about it, it’s not really anyone’s fault that if they do something wrong in the past, it changes the future. It’s the inventors and the supporters of the time machine who are to blame. Allowing people who are not fully trained to take on the challenge of going into the past, allowing these people to have a go with technology that is clearly stated that even the government doesn’t want them using. Yet these teams of hunters are allowed to dive right in and slay some of nature’s finest, regardless of the consequences unless told. However, this story supposedly takes place in the future, right? Perhaps the ancestors of these characters knew a thing or two about controlling technology. Though, as we can learn from our time today and parts of our hidden history, that is not always true. Confused? Well let’s take a look at our social media today. There are always cases of cyber-bullying, harassment, and unfortunately many side effects from the internet, because people are careless sometimes in what they say, thinking it will not come out to hurt anyone. This corresponds with giving the untrained hunters a time machine. How? Let’s face it, every day there are more and more people who fall into depressions, can never look at others the same, or even believe everyone’s life will be better without them. This falls from giving people like us the power of the internet. Although, I’m not saying the internet is not helpful and has never made any positives. There have been many people who inspire millions every day just by posting a video on YouTube or saying something on Twitter. So technology does have its ups and downs. Same goes for the time machine; although it is in use by people with money and sometimes little knowledge, this creation could ultimately affect humanity in a way much for the greater, in theory. But with greater technology, comes the greater of responsibility. If you take a look back into the inventions during the Cold War, there were plenty of weapons that were made to obliterate many. One of these is Project Thor, which, keep in mind, is still active today. To keep things simple, Project Thor revolves around the idea of kinetic bombardment. This is the act of attacking a planet’s surface with an inert projectile, where the destructive force comes from the kinetic energy produced. Project Thor’s projectiles are 20 foot long, 1 foot wide rods of tungsten, one of the densest materials on our planet. These were planned to be released from out of orbit onto any place on Earth at any time. If they were released, they would fall at Mach 10 (around 7,700 mph) onto given locations producing a very large explosion, and would fall within 10 or 15 minutes, next to impossible to shoot down because the speed.
ReplyDeleteTo keep on track, look back to the time machine, if something from Cold War can be this deadly, imagine what might happen if the machine that, oh right, controls time fell into the wrong hands. If that were to happen, there might even be chance humanity, civilizations, or life as we know it could have ever existed. Yet the only ones who are truly aware of this are the men who allow random people willing to pay into these possible weapons. So who are the ones who should be blamed for any ‘minor mishaps’? The ones who allow this machine to be used as a toy. So to sum up, my opinion, technology can be very dangerous, and there is much danger to people.
DeleteI believe technology is dangrous. With all the social media sites that take all ur info and leave it on a wall that everyone in the world can access. This takes all ur privacy and flushes it down the drain. With cell phones people now start hacked others phone and taking their money. From this people have finical problems and then go bankrupt. And if everyone starts going bankrupt then our country will fail. But besides that fact lots of bullying is done off the internet. With this access to kids through apps they can be made fun of outside of school where they can't get as much help. This affects kid through the country and they get very heart broken. Another problem with technology is tactical warfare. The ways we fight our wars are very destructive. We like to blow the area up and then we send in our soldiers to eliminate the rest. Sometimes this can be good but that also it starts more fights witch lead to a war. In conclusion technology is not the best for our privacy and feelings.
ReplyDeleteI believe that there is a big danger with technology, specifically social media. On sites like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, children are getting bullied all the time. These bullies do much more than just make people feel bad. Sometimes people will make the horrible decision of ending their own life because of things that happen on these apps. Also, with modern technology becoming such a big part of our lives, other things such as financial problems can occur. There can be glitches in online banking, or someone may hack into it. If that happens, all hell will break loose. Adults could be losing countess amounts of money from someone sitting in front of a computer screen. Another danger with technology is that if you post something that you think is funny or "cool" at the time, it can affect you later in life. For example, if you post a video of yourself chugging a whole bottle of beer at a party, at the time you may get people saying things like "That's awesome" or "Sweet." Then a year later you apply for a job, and the boss looks you up and sees that same video. Is it really worth it to not get a job just for that post?

With websites like twitter, instagram, or facebook there is a lot of cyber bullying that goes on. This is dangerous because it seriously affects the minds people who are victims of it. Cyber bullying isn't the only danger though, the technology we have today also makes us more distant from the real world. This is another danger with technology, it makes us spend more time inside than outside and more time texting our friends than looking them in the face. When we make more useful inventions we also make more useless humans.

I think its very harmful to people on social media, such as Facebook, Intsagram, twitter, etc. because there is a lot of cyber bullying that goes on. Cyber bullying is very harmful & dangerous because the people behind the computer picking on other kids don't notice any consequences for their actions. Also technology is bad for children that sit home all day playing games. These kids probably wouldn't know how to start an actual conversation because all they do is text & play games all day long. ReplyDeleteYes, technology poses many dangers to people everyday. Although, technology has helped advance in so many things it also has made things a lot worse. Our generation is not as smart as we used to be. Now a days people rely mainly on the internet for help on everything. We are not as self sufficient as we once were. Most teenagers cannot even go 10 minutes without having there phones. Social Media also causes many problems, twitter, instagram, and facebook are all contributers to this. All of these websites are reasons we have a high bullying problem. Many teens think they are safe saying hurtful things behind their computer/phone screens. Meanwhile they are hurting other people. Honestly, most people do not even know all the dangers technology can cause. All in all, technology is a danger to society today.
