In honor of Derek Jeter’s retirement, I would like you to reflect on the following quote and respond in no less than 200 words.
Jeter says a key to success is “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.”
Do you feel this is a valuable statement and can be applied to anyone, not just a professional athlete? Explain how this can be applied to your everyday life by using specific examples.
I think that this sentence can be used as an exemple in alot of situations of our life.
ReplyDeleteIn order to successed we must try, fail and learn from our mistakes to become stronger, better and competent human being. We can face our fears and difficulties everyday, or we can stay in our Shell a be one more in a gigantic world.
You know , in life , I have heard this quote numerous of times . The quote " A key to success is that you're not afraid of failing . I feel this quote has a lot of deep ,internal meaning . The meaning itself is pretty self explanatory . In my personal opinion , this statement can absolutely be applied to anyone because everyone can benefit from this not only athletes . This honestly applies to my everyday life all the time . An example of this would be today actually . I'm a musician therefore , I play various instruments. I was in band class today and my band teacher , Mr. Genthe , saw me playing on the piano today and noticed that I was being very careful trying to make everything perfect and getting very frustrated when I failed to do so . He came and said , the love of music isn't something that can be taught , its something that you are born with and people can only enhance that love . Failing is apart of music , but not only music also life , because failing is what keeps you going .It tells you what you need to work on and how to do it . But when you think about it , failing isn't really failing . Failing is an experience that teaches you something at the end not only about what you're doing but also it tells you things about yourself . Things that you are very good and other things you could use the help with . Failing helps you more than it breaks you at the end . So , if something you do isn't working and you keep failing and you keep trying then failing again , keep on trying cause its only going to make you stronger or better at what you're trying to accomplish depending on what you're trying to do . I know there are days when you think you're not good enough . Days you think people are right and you cant do it . Moments when you know it would be easier to just give up and quit . But if you do , you'll never know what would of happened if you just gave it one more push.
ReplyDeleteI personally think that this quote applies to anyone. Nobody's perfect. There is not a single human being that is perfect in anyway. Everybody fails at some point in there life. The quote “that you’re not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail. I’ve done it quite a bit.” means that everybody at some point has there own problems in life and will eventually face failure in the face (personification). If your not afraid to fail. you can hopefully be successful in life. But if you are so afraid of failing, your chances at being successful are smaller than you accepting failure. You think of scientist of the most perfect human being on earth, they're not. Everyday, they fail at some experiment or hypothesis, but they have to realize that they have to keep moving forward and to never give up. Derek Jeter was one of the best baseball players that every lived. He's a legend. But you have to think that he failed at some point in life. So, because he failed, he succeeded. What this means is that when you fail, you can figure out what you did wrong so you can fix the problem and make it write.
ReplyDeletegood points!
Deleteright is what I meant
ReplyDeleteI think this quote can be applied to every one on the whole wide world.I know this because no one's perfect and everyone has failed once or twice.it's part of life.there is one person on this planet pro athlete or not it has made a mistake once twice three times when trying the same thing over and over.life is about failing but being able to get right back up and still give it one hundred Percent the whole time
ReplyDeleteI'm continuing my last post
ReplyDeleteJust like Derek said he failed many times but look at him now he is a million Are everybody loves him how could u not wanna be like him.
I feel that this quote is a valuable statement for many reasons. First of all, everyone has or will fail at some point in their life at one time or another. Most people think of Failing as a bad thing, but it's actually a great thing. It helps you improve tremendously because no single person is perfect. It's not possible to learn without making mistakes. Nobody likes to fail, and have to repeat the steps over but you are practicing while doing that which will help you become not only better at the task that you are trying to succeed in, but become an overall better person. A ruff spot for me in my own life would be math. I have failed dozens of times. But I try by asking for help or staying after school before a test or quiz. The more I didn't succeed, the harder it became. So certain places in math that I was unsure about I have overcame the stress it has caused me plus I improved on the lesson itself. Derek Jeter wouldn't be where he is without his own failure and the recognition of it. You can't help yourself if you're not familiar with your own weak points. Just because he was in the MLB doesn't mean he didn't make mistakes. Just like you and I nobody's perfect and you shouldn't expect yourself to be.

DeleteYeah I can relate to this quote because basically Derek Jeter is right. In my life I failed at thing but like I'm not going to be crying and say its the end of the world just because I failed. I'm supposed to be strong about it and work hard next time. For example, when was I was little i was learning how to ride a bike. Yeah, I fell a couple times and cried, but I never gave up just because I couldn't ride my bike for the first time. Also, with my writing I'm not really good at it because i speak two languages an sometimes it gets confusing but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to stop writing. Also, if I would ever fail a test I would study harder next time and also stay after school to retake it.

DeleteJeter says a key to success is "that you're not afraid to fail. I'm not afraid to fail.I've done it quite a bit."This is a great statement and it could relate to anyone on this world. How? If you fail at something you're not just going to give up you're going to keep trying and trying. For example, when I tried out to play baseball for my first time i could not hit the ball; but did I quit, no I kept o trying till i finally hit the ball. Another example is the greatest player that ever lived at basketball, Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan failed at joining one of his teams when he was younger but he never gave up he kept on trying and ended up being the best in the world. So dont stop trying and keep trying till you succed
ReplyDeleteSo true

DeleteIn my opinion I think that this qoute can be applied to anyone and not just athletes because nobody in this world is perfect. Everyone fails in something. It can be sports school or even games. Everyone wants to succeed but to do so you need to learn from your mistakes. Like what jose said Michael jordan didnt make his middle school s basketball team but that didnt stop him from being the best I the world. This proves that if you fail , get back up and work harder.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the best captains ever said that everyone is going to fail and Jeter as failed scientists have failed, but it is not just in sports it is about life in general. Succeding is something that is a goal which is hard to get. As Diogo said you will make mistakes in your life and as long as you give 110% to the goal you are trying to succed you will achieve it. Giving up is signs of weakness and I know that if you do give up then you will never succed again. Try is all he asks and you will become one of the most succesful people in any situations. You got to dodge any obstacles that are thrown at you that is why the captain Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees led them to 28 World Series championships. Failure can occur but never without effort never take failure to be the end of everything.
